Wine flight at Whole Foods

In between art events i stopped in whole foods for a bite and a flight. The Evodia Garnacha, i did not care for. While not $2 chuck caliber, it definitely had a low quality palate. The cab was very drinkable but the malbec i felt had the most substance. I will say it can be hard to do wine tasting in a tiny glass. No room for the bouquet! But whatever, good wine comes through any vessel. Just not to it's full potential ;)

Finding myself

I love all kinds of red wine. It's usually a matter of what i'm in the mood for. I make not of my phases, what types of reds i go for when i just don't know what i want.  Lately tempranillos, etc. Tonight i like medoc :)

A toast to completing my studio move!

Well, almost ;) I moved everything out of the old studio, but it's still in my truck as I'm sampling this flight of sparklings at Whole Foods in celebration :)
I'm not really sure how to describe the flavors of champagne as I mostly drink red wine. Of course I've always loved the "novelty" of sparkling wine, as anyone who knows me, I lovespinach everything that sparkles! ;) Lately, I'vebeen gotten more interested in tastings of sparkling wines. So far I've come to a conclusion that I generally like Prosecco. I feel like in general Proseccos have a nice balance between light, airy and mildly sweet. In this tasting at Whole Foods I favor the Prosecco. The Gruet is drier but it's a bit heavier or thicker that Prosec, which i don't find desirable.  I just had a realization! Maybe i like my sparklings the way i like my cake! Very ligjt and airy and not too sweet. When it comes to cupcakes, i believe it should be like a cloud. I wouldn't say that the Mionetto is a cloud, but maybe now I know my preference in sparklings :)
The rose is fruity, not very bubbly and has the bouquet of a chardonnay which i doenjoy not care for. I am not a white wine person, but will always be open as occasionally i find one i enjoy. But for the most part, if it's white it needs bubbles. I wonder why bubbles change the experience. I do enjoy sweet whites though, and actually prefer sweet whites with chocolate versus red wine. I feel red wine actually competes with the flavors of chocolate while white wine enhances the fruity and nutty tones of different cacoa beans. ok, well back to my celebration!
